Why I Stopped Chasing Other People’s Strategies

There was a time when I paid very close attention to what everyone else was doing.

What was working for them.
What strategy they were using.
What platform they were growing on.
What their schedule looked like.

And I told myself I was just being smart by learning from others.

But if I’m honest, a lot of it was comparison disguised as research.

The problem with chasing other people’s strategies is that you slowly disconnect from yourself. You stop listening to what actually fits your life, your energy, and your values. You start believing that if something works for someone else, it must work for you too.

Experience has taught me otherwise.

Here’s a simple example.

I’ve watched people build incredible momentum by being constantly online, posting multiple times a day, working late into the night, and saying yes to everything. That approach worked for them. It fit their season, their schedule, and their capacity.

When I tried to mirror that pace, it didn’t make me more successful. It made me tired. It pulled me out of rhythm with my life and left me feeling scattered instead of focused.

What I do now is look at the example and ask better questions.

What are the principles behind what’s working?
How can I apply them in a way that fits my life?
What boundaries do I refuse to compromise?

For me, God time and family time come first. Always. Those aren’t flexible. Everything else gets built around them.

That means I work in focused time blocks. I don’t try to be everywhere. I don’t borrow someone else’s pace. I choose consistency that respects my priorities.

That’s also why the way I build now matters so much to me. I’m building a community-based wellness business through Heritage Club using a proven framework, but I apply it in a way that supports my real life. I don’t need to perform someone else’s version of success to build something meaningful.

When you stop chasing other people’s strategies and start honoring your values, something shifts.

You gain clarity.
You gain confidence.
And you stop feeling like you’re behind.

You’re not late.
You’re not missing anything.
You’re just being asked to lead your own way.
