Winter Glow: How I Prep My Skin for the Season

Winter is here which means my skin needs a little extra love. As soon as the air gets colder I feel it right away. The dryness, the tightness, and honestly the dullness can creep in fast if I am not paying attention.

At 54 I have learned that glowing skin in the winter is not about doing more. It is about doing what actually works. I spent years washing my face with soap and not even taking my makeup off, and now here I am with a routine that truly supports my skin through every season.

This is exactly how I prep my skin for winter so it stays hydrated, bright, and smooth all season long.

1. Start With Deep Hydration

Winter is the time when our skin barrier needs the most support. Hydration becomes the foundation of everything I do. I always start my routine with a gentle cleanser followed by a hydrating toner to prep my skin.

Then I layer in deeper hydration with my favorite serums. These are the products that bring moisture back into the skin and help it stay plump through the cold months.

2. Add Brightening to Combat Dullness

Winter light can make our skin look flat, so I always add in a vitamin C step in the morning. It helps brighten the skin, even out tone, and keep that fresh glow that looks so healthy and clean.

I also love using vitamin A retinol this time of year to help smooth and firm everything. They give my skin that lifted, refreshed look even on those mornings when I am tired.

3. Lock it All In With Moisture

If there is one thing you must do in winter it is moisturizing. And I mean morning and night. A lightweight SPF moisturizer during the day keeps my skin from drying out under makeup, and a richer cream at night seals everything in so I wake up glowing.

A humidifier in the bedroom also makes a huge difference. It keeps moisture in the air and helps your skin stay soft through the night.

4. Support Glow From the Inside

My winter skin routine is not just topical. I stay consistent with my liquid BioCell every day, and it has made the biggest difference in keeping my skin hydrated, firm, and glowing from within. I take it in the morning before breakfast & add it into my routine later in the day.

I also increase my water intake in December and always add electrolytes every single day!

5. Use Tools to Lift and Smooth

Tools make a big difference for winter skin because they help products penetrate deeper and boost circulation. I use my sculpting wands in the morning and at night. They help with hydration, firming, and keeping my skin looking lifted even when the cold tries to flatten everything out.

The eye wand is a must for de-puffing. Especially on those cold mornings when my eyes remind me how dark it still is outside.

6. Stay Consistent With a Simple Routine

Winter skin is all about routine. Not perfection.
If you do nothing else, focus on:

  1. Hydration

  2. Brightening

  3. Moisturizing

  4. Supporting glow from within

These four things will keep your skin healthy, smooth, and bright from December all the way through the spring thaw.
