How to Protect Your Skin and Your Gut from Holiday Stress
The holidays always sound magical, don’t they? Sparkling lights, festive gatherings, cozy nights in. But behind the magic can come a whole lot of stress, late nights, sugar, travel, and busier schedules that can take a real toll on our skin and digestion.
I’ve learned that when my body feels off, my skin is the first to show it. So, as we move through the season, I treat my wellness and beauty as one. Glowing skin starts with balance, both inside and out.
Here are a few ways I’m protecting my skin and my gut from holiday stress this year.
1. Notice the Signs of Stress On Your Skin and in Your Gut
Our skin and gut are like two best friends that always tell on us. When either one is out of balance, the other usually shows it.
If you’ve noticed dullness, breakouts, dryness, or extra puffiness, that’s your skin’s way of whispering, “slow down.”
Likewise, if your digestion feels sluggish, bloated, or unpredictable, your gut is asking for a little extra care, too.
The first step is awareness. Just pausing to notice what your body’s telling you can help you make gentler choices for yourself this season.
2. Simplify Your Skincare Routine
When stress levels rise, less is more. I keep things simple, clean, and gentle. This isn’t the time for harsh exfoliants or adding five new products.
Choose nourishing, hydrating ingredients that calm your skin, peptides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid are beautiful for this.
And most importantly, take your time applying them. Skincare is one of the easiest ways to calm your nervous system while caring for yourself.

3. Feed Your Gut for a Healthy Glow
Your gut and skin are connected in more ways than you might think. When your digestion is off, inflammation can rise, and that can show up as dullness, breakouts, or redness.
Focus on nourishing your gut with:
• Hydration - drink more water than you think you need.
• Gentle movement to aid digestion.
• Whole foods that feel good in your body (not what works for everyone else).
• Collagen and a daily shake to support your skin and energy from within.
And when in doubt, keep it simple and consistent.

4. Stress Less with Movement
Make it stand out
Movement is medicine — for your skin, your digestion, and your mood. It doesn’t have to be a full workout. Even a short walk after dinner helps your body process food better, keeps circulation flowing, and supports glowing skin.
When I move, I remind myself it’s not about calories. It’s about thank you, body, for everything you do for me.
5. Create a Wind-Down Ritual
Evenings are your body’s chance to reset and repair. Turn your nighttime routine into a moment of calm. Not another task on the to-do list.
Try turning off screens 30 minutes early, applying skincare slowly, and writing one thing you’re grateful for in your journal. Your skin and gut both thrive when your body feels safe and calm.
Final Thoughts
The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, not survived.
When you care for your gut, your skin, and your peace equally, you’ll notice everything about you feels lighter and brighter. Take a few minutes this week to breathe, hydrate, and protect your glow. Your body will thank you for it.
