Winning disappears but quitting stays with you forever…
Well this morning we are at the start of a Nor’ester and I already have done my outdoor walk, read, meditated, had breakfast, visualized and had my cold shower. Next up is writing to you all now then yoga in a little while. Today is day 29 out of 30 for this phase of 75 Hard and I will say the same thing I have said for the last couple of weeks. I will be glad when this is over. It has not been an easy challenge and I have wanted to quit so many times.
My husband said something to me the other day when I mentioned that I could quit and then do it when it’s warmer out. He said “Winning disappears but quitting stays with you forever”. That couldn’t be more true. How many times have you truly remembered your “wins” for completion of something? Not many right? Now think about how many times do you remember those times you quit? A lot right? It is almost like it takes over sometimes with regret or sometimes even some guilt.
So what do you do when you want to quit? What do you do when maybe you should quit because it is not healthy for you? There is a fine line sometimes. However, what you can do is really sit down with it when you are thinking of giving up and think or even better write down the situation and why you are doing it. Most times its just the voice in your head trying to protect you from tigers or something. However what you are doing most times isn’t a Tiger chasing you so run with it. These are the moments you need to make yourself do it anyway. The benefits on the other side always are better. Finishing is what builds confidence. You know that feeling of accomplishment, I know you do.
So next time you want to quit something just remember “Winning disappears but quitting stays with you forever.” Thank you John…
Now, go accomplish great things my friend!
