The Poopocalypse: A Story of Embarrassment and Humor
I have a story to share with you that's both embarrassing and hilarious. It happened to me while driving home from an MRI appointment in New York City with my mother and son. I was wearing tight leggings that pressed against my ostomy bag, and I had been trying to push down stool that was coming out of my stoma. Suddenly, the bag unsnapped and a piece of solid stool flew out, causing my mother to scream and my son to ask what was going on.
I quickly grabbed the stool with my hand and put it back in the bag, but had poo on my hand and needed to clean it off. My mother found the incident hilarious and my son wanted to tell his girlfriend. I emphasize that incidents like this can happen to anyone with an ostomy, and that it's important to react with humor and not feel alone.
I encourage you to listen to this episode to hear more about my story and how to handle embarrassing situations like this. I discuss the importance of taking care of any incidents that happen and moving on with life. I also share some tips on how to react with humor and not feel ashamed.
As I say, "It's important to remember that you're not alone, and that there are others out there who have gone through similar experiences." So, don't be afraid to laugh at yourself and share your story with others.
