Kids asking the best questions about life in an ostomy

Guys I could cry! I had the honor of participating in Hollister Incorporated’s video with some other ostomates and children. I flew to Milwaukee on a Wednesday afternoon, btw I have never been to Milwaukee before. I didn’t get to my hotel until 10pm so didn’t get to see much. I woke up the next morning and headed to the studio at 9:30 am.

When I got there I got to meet Elina and some of the rest of the team from Hollister along with the film crew. I also got to meet in person one of my ostomate sisters, Stephanie. Stephanie has been on my podcast previously and is also going to be on this weeks World Ostomy Day’s podcast episode, which I will be writing about next! A little bit later I also met Collin another ostomate who will be on the podcast in a few weeks. He has a great story so be sure to stay tuned for that!

Anyway, back to the filming day. The plan for the video was to have us each chat with a child. They were all around 7-8 years old and boy did they have some of the best questions! I truly love how children can ask anything. These children where fantastic, they asked the BEST questions!

Maceo was so adorable. He asked me so many great questions about what is an ostomy, can you live until you’re 100?, what I like to do. His face when I explained what an ostomy was, was priceless. I loved how he could compare my ostomy to an ouchie he has. Check him out in the video he really was the sweetest. OH and he has some serious dance moves!

I know sometimes it can be difficult to ask questions and maybe you are reading this post right now and saying I have questions too. I am always an open book and promise to be more vocal here on the blog as I am on my social pages. But, in the meantime take a look at the video above. It may help answer any questions you have right now about those that have a stoma/ostomy.

Thank you to Hollister Inc. for including me in this special program. I truly feel honored.
