Celebrating 100 Episodes of The Beautiful Bag Podcast: Reflections and Gratitude

Hello everyone! I'm LeeAnne Hayden, your host at The Beautiful Bag Blog. Today, I am thrilled to share with you the joyous occasion of our 100th episode of The Beautiful Bag Podcast. It's an incredible milestone, and I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for being a part of this journey. Over the past two years, your support and presence have meant the world to me, and I am truly honored to have you by my side as we celebrate this momentous occasion. So, let's dive in and reflect on the amazing stories and growth we've experienced together.

A Journey of Strength and Resilience:

When I look back at the past 100 episodes, I am in awe of the strength and resilience that has been shared on The Beautiful Bag Podcast. It has been a platform for individuals with ostomies to come forward and share their stories, including my own. As some of you may know, I have an ostomy due to a rare sarcoma tumor that I battled. The vulnerability and courage displayed by our guests have left me speechless at times. From cancer survivors to those with Crohn's and Colitis, veterans, accident survivors, and many more, their journeys have inspired us all.

Breaking Stereotypes and Changing Perspectives:

One of the most beautiful aspects of The Beautiful Bag Podcast is the diversity of our guests. Together, we have shattered stereotypes surrounding ostomies. In the past, ostomies were often associated with older individuals, typically because of cancer. However, through this podcast, we have witnessed individuals of all ages and backgrounds facing ostomy surgeries and living fulfilling lives. We have celebrated the triumphs of children who have grown up with ostomies, as well as those who discovered their strength in their 50s. This podcast has opened our eyes to the fact that ostomies do not discriminate.

Inspiring Stories of Triumph:

Throughout the 100 episodes, we have been privileged to share countless stories of triumph. I want to highlight two remarkable individuals who have left a lasting impact on me. Collin Jarvis, a former pre-Olympic runner, had to let go of his dream due to ostomy surgeries. But he didn't let that define him. He became a marathon runner and co-owner of Stealth Belt, a testament to his indomitable spirit. Then there's Jearlean Taylor, who has lived with a dual ostomy since childhood. Despite the challenges, she has defied societal norms and pursued a career in modeling. These stories, along with many others, inspire us to embrace life's challenges and overcome them with grace.

The Beautiful Bag Podcast has created a powerful sense of community among listeners and guests alike. Together, we have provided support, understanding, and a safe space for everyone. I am incredibly grateful for each and every person who has joined this growing community, sharing their stories and spreading awareness. My partnership with Hollister, Inc. has played a crucial role in amplifying our mission and supporting the podcast. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of individuals with ostomies.

A Beautiful Bag: A Second Chance at Life:

The name "The Beautiful Bag" holds a special meaning for me. It represents the second chance at life that an ostomy bag provides. It's a symbol of resilience and gratitude. While we face challenges like leaks and the fear of stepping out, we must remember that we have been given another opportunity to live. Not everyone gets this chance. We stand united, supporting one another through the ups and downs, reminding each other that we are not alone in this journey.

As we celebrate the 100th episode of The Beautiful Bag Podcast, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all of you. Your presence, messages, and support have made this podcast what it is today. Together, we have created a community that uplifts, inspires, and spreads awareness. Let's continue to share our stories, connect with one another, and embrace the beauty of life with a bag. I look forward to the many more episodes to come. Until next time, stay strong, keep sharing, and remember that you are never alone.
